Things to do in Albany Park
Albany Park is a well-defined and diverse northwest suburb of Chicago –about nine miles from the downtown area itself. It is also the neighbor of the town of Ravenswood. Albany Park was settled in the late 1800s as a town for residents, with Chicago becoming more populated each year. For that reason, Albany Park is more than less a residential suburb with not too many tourist attractions and things to do. That’s not to say that Albany Park isn’t without its hidden gems. Let’s take a look at some of the things you can do when in Albany Park.
Ronan Park
The North Branch of the Chicago River runs right through Albany Park, so parks and preserves around the area have some wetlands-like scenery and trails. Ronan Park is no exception. There is a children’s playground surrounded by a network of riverside trails. It’s also home to a unique sculpture garden with several contemporary pieces. Metro and Orbit –a retro-style robot and its dog are popular among children.

Ravenswood Manor Park
You have another humble neighborhood park at Ravenswood. Parents in the area often take their children to the playground here, so it’s an ideal place to go if your child has some energy to expend with jungle gyms and lots of room to run around. The small forest area also offers an escape from the urbanscape of Northern Chicago.

North Mayfair Playlot Park
The third and final family park in the Albany Park area is the North Mayfair Playlot. Children recognize it by its blue swings and jungle gym. This park is the smallest one in town, but they can get hours of amusement from the playground, which has been renovated in the last decade.
