Motorcycle Insurance: Illinois Requirements

Some states have motorcycle insurance requirements, as well as having their own coverage guidelines. There are three numbers to represent these coverages – 25/50/20. The first represents bodily injury to one person injured in an accident.
The second represents bodily injury to all people injured in an accident. The third represents property damage.

The requirements for Illinois motorcycle insurance are the same as car insurance. For instance, to follow Illinois law, the state requires you to at least have the following amounts:

  • $25,000 of coverage for injuries to, or death of, a single person in an accident.
  • $50,000 of coverage for injuries to, or deaths of, more than one person in an accident.
  • $20,000 of property damage coverage in case of an accident.

Riders can choose to add additional coverage as well as endorsements for an extra cost.
