How To Remain A Safe Driver

Whether you’re an experienced driver or new to the world of driving. Anything can happen when you’re on the road. These are some tips to ensure you are doing your best to be safe when driving.

Insurance

That’s right, you need to have insurance. Car insurance and health insurance, both are valuable to have in case of an accident. People are out there now driving without any sort of protection for themselves or their vehicle. You don’t want to be one of those people do you?

Vehicle Maintenance

Throughout the day your body tells you what it needs. From eating, sleeping, a stretch or two. Your vehicle is no different than you are. You have to take care of it or it will break down on you. That means setting appointments for routine maintenance at a car shop or dealership. Have them look over your vehicle and make sure it’s in the best condition possible to get you from point A to B.

Pay Attention

Many times I’ve looked over to another car and saw the driver with a phone in one hand and steering with the other. When the car is in motion you need to focus on driving. You endanger not only yourself but also other drivers around you. If you need to do anything while driving and it can’t wait, do everyone a favor and pull over.

Use GPS

If you’re driving to a place you’ve never been, put the address in your GPS app. It tells you the fastest route to get there. These apps give you real time information on traffic. They tell you where the slow downs are, any accidents, and more. Your GPS will help you be more aware of your surroundings, so use it.

Weather

There’s nothing quite like driving on a hot day with the windows down and the sun beaming on your face. Nature isn’t always that beautiful though, inclement weather is always around the corner. Rain can cause flooding, hail can damage your vehicle, and snow makes everyone crazy. Know your comfort level when driving in different conditions. Weather is a big factor on the road and should never be taken lightly.

Emergency Supplies

If something does happen to you or your car when driving, it’s always best to be prepared. Maybe an injury, or your car won’t start and you have to wait for a tow. Keep a first aid kit in your trunk, grab a couple bottles of water to keep in your vehicle. Keep a couple blankets or a jacket in there as well in case of cold weather. You never know what you might need, so take precautions.
