Losing your car insurance ID cards can be a real hassle. You’re probably worried about being pulled over without them and the hassle of replacing them. You can quickly get a duplicate copy from your insurance company. Whether you go online or call the company on the phone, the process is relatively easy. In this guide, we’ll walk you through both procedures so you’re prepared if you ever need to replace your policy.
Having a duplicate copy of your proof of car insurance is pretty important. In most states, carrying proof of auto insurance is the law. You could face severe fines or other consequences if you don’t carry auto insurance. Your auto insurance policy is there to protect you and your car financially if you get into an accident, it’s stolen, or if something else unexpected happens. That means having a copy of your policy documents is not just a good idea—it’s a must.
Suppose you bought your auto insurance policy online. In that case, you can download a duplicate original policy document in just a few steps.
- Go to your insurance provider’s website. You can find their website by searching for it online.
- Log in with your credentials—your policy number, registered mobile number, or name should do the trick.
- The “View ID Cards” link (usually in the “Policy Documents” section) is where you can download or print a copy of your policy documents.
- Save the PDF or print a copy of it. They can also send this via email.
This is usually the quickest way to get a duplicate copy of your policy documents.
If you want to get duplicate policy documents by phone, follow the steps listed below.
- Contact your insurance provider’s customer service and let them know you’ve lost your policy ID card. They’ll guide you through the process.
- You may need to submit a written request stating why you need a duplicate ID card.
- You may be asked to provide proof of your vehicle’s registration and a valid photo ID.
- There might be a small fee for reprinting and mailing the documents to you.
A duplicate car insurance ID card gives you peace of mind and ensures you comply with the law. Knowing both online and over the phone processes means you can act quickly if you need to replace your policy documents.
Below, we’ve compiled a guide to help you download and print your car insurance policy and proof of insurance cards from each major US insurance provider.
This guide includes step by step instructions, what information you’ll need to log in online, and whether you can use a desktop site or mobile app. We’ve also included links to the insurance company’s website login or mobile app.

The app allows you to save or show the card on your phone. Make sure you’ve registered online first as the app uses the same login.
- Additional tip: Chubb may email your insurance documents when your policy starts. Check your email for any PDF attachments from Chubb. AAA Insurance
AAA Insurance” is provided by different regional AAA clubs, but most follow similar processes.
- Log in to your AAA insurance account: Many AAA auto insurance customers can use the AAA MyPolicyonline service (offered by clubs like CSAA, Auto Club, etc.). If your AAA club provides online access, log in on their insurance portal. For example, CSAA Insurance Group (AAA) uses MyPolicy at mypolicy.aaa.com—you’d register with your AAA membership number and policy number to gain access. Check your AAA insurance card or bill for instructions on how to use an online account specific to your region.
- Access proof of insurance: Once logged in to the AAA insurance portal, find the link for “Proof of Insurance / ID Cards." AAA’s MyPolicy makes it convenient to print or view proof of insurance ID cards on demand. There is likely a menu or dashboard button that says “Print Auto ID Cards." Click that option.
- Select your policy/vehicle: If prompted, select the auto policy and vehicle for which you need an ID card. Some AAA systems list all your insured cars and let you pick one to generate an ID card.
- View and print ID card: The system will display your AAA insurance ID card (usually as a pdf) after you click Print. To print the ID card, Use your PDF viewer’s print button. AAA will format two cards per page (one for your wallet, one for your vehicle). Print and cut them out. AAA’s guidelines often say that online ID cards are an easy alternative to waiting for the mail.
- Account registration requirement: Note that to use AAA’s online service, you usually must register your policy by linking it to your online account (often requires your membership number, policy number, and ZIP code). Once connected, you have 24/7 access to ID cards.
- AAA mobile app: Many AAA clubs also allow digital insurance cards via their AAA mobile app. For example, the Auto Club and AAA Mobile apps let you log in and access your insurance ID card on your phone (some even integrate with Apple Wallet). If you’re in a state/club that supports this, you could use the app to show proof or email yourself the card, but printing from the web portal as above will give you a paper copy for your glovebox.

- If unable to find online: If you run into any issues accessing Erie’s online system or if you’re in NY (where online cards aren’t available), you can call Erie’s customer service at (800) 458-0811 to have an ID card mailed or emailed.
- Mobile access: Erie Insurance also has a mobile app and mobile-friendly site where, after logging in, you can view your ID card. Mercury will generate a digital ID card (PDF). You may have a prompt to save it to your smartphone or computer – you can save the PDF at this point.
- Your ID card is ready to print: Take a look at the Mercury Insurance ID card PDF you downloaded. That contains your proof of insurance. Now print the card—you can print it on full-page paper or cut out the wallet-sized version. Your policy number, vehicle and coverage dates will be right there on the card.
- Mercury mobile app: If you prefer using a phone, Mercury’s mobile app offers the same functionality. The app lets you view, save, and even directly print or email your policy documents and ID cards. For example, you could open the app, view your ID card, and use the share option to email it to a printer or your email address. Still, using the desktop site as above might be more straightforward for printing purposes. Mercury also notes that nearly every state accepts digital ID cards, so showing it on your phone via the app is also an option if you don’t have a printer.
Kemper
- Log in or create a Kemper account: Go to Kemper’s customer login page. (Kemper has separate portals for different product lines; for personal auto, you’ll use Kemper’s auto customer login.) You’ll need your Kemper policy number, an email, and possibly your ZIP code to register.
- Navigate to policy documents: After logging in, look for the section to view policy documents or ID cards. Kemper’s online account (sometimes called “Kemper Preferred” for personal insurance) will have an option like “Get Auto ID Cards." In an example snippet, Kemper’s eService portal mentions you can get policy documents and auto ID cards once logged in. Click that link or navigate to your auto policy details.
- View ID card: Select the Insurance ID Card to view it once in your auto policy section. The system should retrieve your proof of insurance. (If Kemper’s system doesn’t show it directly, you may need to request it – in which case, proceed to the next step.)
- Download/print ID card: If the ID card is displayed, use the print button on the site. If it’s downloadable, click Download ID Card to get a PDF. Then print it. Make sure the printed card has all the information and is legible. Kemper’s online portal should produce an official ID card that’s acceptable as proof of insurance.
- Alternate (if no portal access): If you have trouble online, you can always call Kemper’s customer service or your insurance agent to request they send you an ID card. Kemper also has a mobile app for auto customers, the Kemper Auto app, which provides quick access to your insurance information, including ID cards.
- Kemper Auto mobile app: Download the Kemper Auto Insurance app (available on the Apple App Store and Google Play). Log in with your Kemper account. The app will show your policy info and has an “Insurance ID Cards” section. You can display your digital ID card, which is handy instead of a printed copy. - Print ID card: Use the portal’s print function or download the ID card PDF and print it. The card will have your policy number, vehicle, coverage dates and all the required info. Print it out and you’re good to go. (If you can’t view the card due to state restrictions like Massachusetts or New York, you may need to contact Hanover to have an ID card mailed. Those states require physical proof directly from the company.)
- Hanover Mobile app: Hanover also has a “Hanover Mobile” app. You can sign in to the app with your My Hanover Policy credentials. The app allows on-the-go access to your insurance info – you can view/print documents and even order ID cards. So, if needed, you could request an ID card via the app or show your digital card from your phone. Remember if you’re in a state like MA/NY, you might need the paper card Hanover mailed at renewal, so plan accordingly.
Sentry Insurance (and Dairyland)
Sentry Insurance’s auto policies are often serviced through its subsidiary, Dairyland Insurance.
- Use Sentry/Dairyland online access: If your policy is with Sentry or Dairyland, go to My Account on Sentry’s site or the Dairyland customer portal. For Dairyland customers, go to my.dairylandinsurance.com and log in. For Sentry-branded personal auto, you can also use Dairyland’s system (Dairyland is the arm of Sentry for auto insurance). If you haven’t registered, create an account with your policy number and name.
- ID cards: Once logged in (either on Sentry’s site or Dairyland’s), find View Documents or Policy Documents. You can access policy information and print ID cards anytime with an online account. For Dairyland, you should see an option for ID Cards or Proof of Insurance under your policy.
- Get the ID card: If using Dairyland’s portal, selecting “ID cards” will probably show your insurance card on the screen or give you a PDF download. If using Sentry’s site directly, they might redirect you to Dairyland’s interface (since Dairyland handles personal auto). Either way, you’ll get to a point where you can see your Auto ID card.
- Print the ID card: If given, download the ID card PDF and print it, or print directly from the browser display. Make sure it prints clearly. Tip: Dairyland’s mobile app or site might also list Instant ID cards as a benefit—meaning you can print an ID card right after you buy a policy. So you can print that at the start of your policy.
- Mobile app: Dairyland Mobile App: If your policy is through Dairyland, the Dairyland app (Android/iOS) will let you view your ID card offline. You can use the app to display your insurance card or email it to yourself. If you have a Sentry policy, check if a Sentry or Dairyland app applies. In either case, print a hard copy using the steps above for compliance.
MAPFRE Insurance
- Log in to MAPFRE MyAccount: MAPFRE offers an online customer portal in states like Massachusetts and Arizona. Go to myaccount.mapfreinsurance.com and log in. If you do not have login credentials yet, register to create an account – you will need your MAPFRE policy number and some personal information to verify (such as your last name and possibly your ZIP code).
- Find ID cards/documents: Once logged in, go to your auto policy. There should be a section for “ID Cards & Documents” or “Policy Documents." In MAPFRE’s portal, look for a link that says “Download ID Card” or just check under your auto policy’s documents list.
- View the ID card: Click on the auto policy ID card to view it. The system should show your insurance card. If nothing appears, make sure pop-ups are allowed or check if the file downloaded (it might have saved a PDF to your downloads).
- Print the ID card: Print it out with the ID card open (typically in PDF form). Use your PDF viewer’s print function. The card will look exactly like the one mailed to you. Massachusetts customers: You’ll notice MAPFRE includes your registration barcode on the card, as required by the RMV. Print on white paper and cut it down to wallet size if you prefer. Note: If you prefer not to use the online portal, you can always contact MAPFRE to mail you an extra ID card. But the online method is instant. According to MAPFRE, once you opt into online access, you get electronic delivery of documents and can print them anytime.
- Mobile access: MAPFRE has a mobile app called GO MAPFRE. In the app, after logging in, you can pull up your policy and view your ID card electronically. For printing, you’d still use the web portal or have the card emailed. MAPFRE’s digital-first approach means the electronic ID in the app is always available (in many states like MA, digital proof is accepted). If you need a physical card from the app, use the app’s share feature to send the ID card PDF to your email for printing.

Your Alfa insurance ID card(s) will open in PDF format (it may open in Adobe Reader if you have that since Alfa mentions it uses Adobe for IDs). If multiple vehicles were selected, the PDF may contain multiple ID cards – be sure to print all pages. Confirm by clicking OK to print. Repeat the viewing/printing for each vehicle if needed (Alfa notes you might have to do steps 3–5 for each car individually).
- Alternate delivery: If you can’t print out your ID cards, Alfa can send them to you. Your local Alfa insurance agent-or Alfa’s customer service (1-800-964-2532; press one, then 3)-can help with that. But the fastest way is usually through MyAlfa. The Alfa2Go mobile app gives you digital ID cards you can show on your phone or save electronically.

Farm Bureau Insurance
Farm Bureau insurance is offered by various state Farm Bureau companies so procedures may vary. Below is a general guide. Check with your state’s Farm Bureau insurer if different.
- Log in to your Farm Bureau insurance account: Many Farm Bureau insurance companies have an online customer portal. For example, Farm Bureau Financial Services which serves multiple states has a portal at fbfs.com and others like Tennessee Farm Bureau have their own login. Go to your Farm Bureau insurer’s website and log in to your policy account. If you haven’t enrolled online you’ll need to register using your policy number and member number or personal information. Farm Bureau often requires your Farm Bureau membership number and policy details for online access.
- Find the ID card option: After logging in find the link for your auto policy and look for “Print Auto ID Cards.” Farm Bureau Financial Services’ My Account has a section where you can click “Print Auto ID Card” under your auto policy. Other Farm Bureaus have a “Proof of Insurance” link in their account management. Click the correct link to get your insurance ID card.
- Select vehicle: If you have more than one vehicle you insure you’ll need to select which one you’re working with. That means selecting the vehicle you want from the list or dropdown. Then you can move forward.
- View and print the ID card: The system will generate your insurance ID card, usually as a PDF. Once it appears, print it out. Use your browser’s print function or download the PDF and open it to print. The card will contain the necessary proof of insurance info. For example, Farm Bureau’s portal often opens the card in a PDF viewer where you just press the print icon. Print and cut the card to a convenient size.
- If no online access: If your Farm Bureau doesn’t support online ID card retrieval, you can call your local Farm Bureau agent or the customer service line to have them send you an ID card. Many Farm Bureau insurers also allow you to obtain proof of insurance at local offices. However, an increasing number do have apps and online accounts. Check if your state’s Farm Bureau Insurance has a mobile app – some (like FBFS’s app) allow you to access your insurance cards via the app. That app would let you digitally pull up the ID card or email it for printing.

Print on regular paper and cut it to size. Washington and Oregon (PEMCO’s main states) accept electronic proof. However, having a printed copy in the car is still good.
- Mobile app alternative: The Go PEMCO app (Android/iOS) also has your ID cards. Log in and show your electronic ID card from the app (which is good in WA/OR). The app saves it offline. If you need to print from the app, you can email the ID card to yourself using the share function. Otherwise, the steps above via the desktop site will work for printing a paper card.

- Print the ID card: Print the PDF on your printer. Shelter often provides two ID cards on the PDF (so you have a spare). Once printed, cut out the card. You now have a hard copy proof of insurance. Shelter tip: Keep one copy in your car and maybe one with your records. The Acuity app lets you view your policy documents and ID cards on your phone. You could show the digital ID from the app or email it to yourself from the app to print if needed. If it’s a PDF you can also download it for your records. The card will have the Central Insurance logo and all policy details, just like the one you get in the mail. Print it out and you’re done!
- Mobile app option: Central Insurance also has a mobile app (myCentral app). You can easily access your vehicle ID cards via the app—even add them to Apple Wallet with one tap. However, for a physical card, printing via the steps above is the way to go. The system is available 24/7, so even if you lose your card, you can log in again and print a new one anytime.
The General
- Use The General’s Express ID Card service: The General makes it easy to get your ID card without logging in. Go to The General’s Express Services page on their website. Under Express Services click ID Cards. On thegeneral.com this is usually on the Contact Us page or the MyPolicy page labeled “No sign-in required – ID Cards”.
- Find your policy: You’ll need to provide some basic info. The General’s Express system will ask for your policy number, the last 4 of the primary insured’s SSN, and your last name, date of birth, and ZIP code to find the policy. Fill in the required fields and hit Continue.
- Verify via link: The General uses a verification step. They will send a one-time verification link to the email or phone number on file (to ensure only you can access your ID card). Follow the prompts to have them send you the link (usually via email or text).
- Retrieve and print your ID card: Click the verification link sent to you; it will open your insurance ID cards. You’ll typically get a PDF or a web page with your auto insurance card. Print the ID card from that page. The card will be exactly what you need for proof of insurance. (If you have issues with the one-time link, you can log in to The General’s MyPolicy with your account to obtain the ID, but the express route is quicker.)
- Mobile app convenience: The General app puts everything you need at your fingertips. Once you’re logged in, you can view your ID cards—and email them to yourself if you need a printed copy. That’s one way to get your ID card. Or you can skip the login and use Express Service. Print out your ID card and keep it handy-whichever is easier for you.
Dairyland
- Log in to Dairyland’s customer portal: Go to my.dairylandinsurance.com and sign in. If you haven’t set up online access yet, you can register using your policy number and any other verification details you’ll need. Once you’re registered, log in with those same credentials.

- Download/print the card: Once you have the ID card open, download and print it. This is your official Dairyland insurance ID card. If you can’t find it online, Dairyland emails insurance documents when you buy a policy. You can find the ID card from that original welcome email.
- Dairyland mobile app: The Dairyland Insurance mobile app is an easier way to manage your policy on the go. The app allows you to view your ID cards even when offline. You can pull up the card on your phone when needed. To get a paper copy from the app, use the share function to send it to a printer or email. However, since you can print via the portal, you should have a physical card in your vehicle, with the app as a backup for digital proof.
Bristol West
- Use Bristol West’s Quick “View ID” (No Login): Bristol West (part of the Farmers Insurance group) offers a quick way to get your ID without logging in. Go to bristolwest.com, and on the homepage, look for “Quick Links – No Login Required." Click “View ID” (their quick ID card retrieval) there.
- Enter policy info: You will be prompted to enter the policyholder’s details to verify. Typically, Bristol West asks for your policy number and the ZIP code or last name associated with the policy. Provide the requested information and proceed.
- View the card: Once verified, the site will show your insurance ID card(s). It may open a PDF or display on the screen. Bristol West’s system is easy – after you find your policy you should see a “View/Print ID Card” option.
- Print the card: Use the on-screen Print button or download the PDF to print. If you have multiple vehicles listed, make sure to print all pages. Now you have your Bristol West insurance card.
- Alternate method: You can also log in to Bristol West MyAccount (if you have an account) at myaccount.bristolwest.com. After logging in, you’ll find a “View ID Card” link on the dashboard. The advantage of having an account is that you can manage other tasks, too, but for a quick print, the no-login method is fast.
- Mobile access: Bristol West doesn’t have a separate consumer app, but you can access their site on your phone browser in a pinch. Farmers (owner of Bristol West) might allow you to use the general Farmers app for some Bristol West features. Still, your best bet for a digital card is to download it via the above steps and save it to your phone. Always carry a printed copy in your car as well.
National General
- Use NatGen’s “Get ID Cards” online: National General has a portal called My NatGen Policy. Go to mynatgenpolicy.com. On that page you’ll see a section for “Get ID Cards.” You don’t need to log in for this if you use the quick option. Click the “View” button under Get ID Cards.
- Verify policy via MyPolicy portal: Clicking the “View” button will take you to National General’s eService site to retrieve your ID card. You may be asked to log in or provide some identifying information. If you have your NatGen login, you can log in and access documents directly. If not, you can use the “Register your policy” option on that page to set up quick access. NatGen’s site allows quick registration, which you can do on the spot to get the card.
- View ID card: Once you’re in the MyPolicy area (either by login or quick verification), look for “Get ID Cards” if it’s not already there. National General will list your vehicle and a link to “View/Print ID Card.” Click that—it should open your insurance ID card in PDF form.

- Alternate access: If you prefer to log in first, you can go to customer.nationalgeneral.com and log in, then navigate to Documents > ID Card. National General also has a mobile app (NatGen Mobile)—after logging in, you can have a “Quick View ID card” on your phone. The mobile app also allows the ID card to be saved offline. But for a printed card, the steps above will suffice.
Elephant Insurance
- Log in to Elephant’s online account: Go to Elephant Insurance’s account portal (account.elephant.com) and log in. If you haven’t created an account, use the Register link. You will need your Elephant policy number, last name, and maybe your ZIP code to get set up.

- View and download the ID card: Click the ID Card link for your auto policy. It will open as a PDF in your browser or download to your device. Elephant usually sends insurance cards as PDFs. If it downloads, open the PDF from your downloads folder.
- Print the ID card: Open the insurance card PDF and print it. The card will show your auto insurance coverages and vehicle information. If Elephant emailed you an ID card when you bought the policy, you could print that email attachment too.
- Mobile app: Elephant’s focus is on managing policies through their app. The Elephant Insurance app (iOS and Android) lets you save and print your policy documents. So you can log in on the app, find your ID card and share it to print if needed. However, since you can log in on the web and print directly, that is usually quicker for a hard copy.
Root Insurance
- Use the Root app: Root is a mobile-first company. All policy documents and car insurance ID cards are in the app. If you have a Root policy, download the Root Insurance app on your phone. If you haven’t already, since Root policies are managed in the app from quote to claims. Log in to the app with your Root account using your phone number/email and password.
- Find your insurance card in-app: In the Root app, go to your policy details. There will be an option for “Insurance Card” or “Proof of Insurance.” Root says your policy documents and insurance card are in the app for easy access. Tap on the insurance card to display your digital auto ID card on the screen.
- Share or save the ID card: Although the Root app doesn’t have a desktop site for policy service, you can get a printable version using the app’s share function. In the app, look for a share icon or an option like “Send ID Card.” For example, you can email the card to yourself or save it as an image/PDF to your phone’s files.
- Print the ID card: Once you’ve got your ID card—either via email or saved as an image in the app—you can print it out on a computer or a device connected to a printer. That ID card should have all the standard proof-of-insurance details on it. Root usually emails you the ID card when you buy, so you can print that email attachment if you have it.
- No web portal needed: You don’t need a web portal to manage your policy with Root. The app is where most of that happens. Your digital ID card is always with you in the app (and accessible offline). If you need a paper copy, you can either print it from the app or use the emailed documents Root sends you. That way you’ll have what you need when you need it.
Clearcover
- Use the Clearcover app for ID cards: To manage your ID card with Clearcover, download the Clearcover app and log in-you’ll usually use your email and a verification code sent to you via that magic link email Clearcover likes to use.
- Access your ID card digitally: Once you’re in, your insurance ID card is right there on the home screen of the app. You can see the full details by tapping on it. That ID card is always up-to-date-and you can access it 24/7, even without an internet connection.
- Use the Options to share/print: You can find your ID card in the app at any time. Clearcover puts a quick view of it front and center on the main dashboard for convenience. If you need to, you can share or save that ID card as a PDF. You can do that by tapping the “Options” button underneath it. That’s where you’ll also find the option to print copies of any policy documents—including your ID card—if you ever need to. You can do that by tapping Options under the ID card in the app.
- Print the ID card: Once you have the ID card file from the app (for example, emailed to yourself as a PDF or image), open it on a computer and print it. Now you have a hard copy. Clearcover is okay with you printing it as needed – their approach is entirely digital, so they expect customers to use the electronic version or print from it.
- Remember Clearcover’s digital-first nature: Clearcover does not routinely send paper ID cards by mail. All Clearcover ID cards are 100% digital, so using the app is essential. The good news is it’s very quick—open the app, show the card, or print via share. Keep a printed copy if your state or personal preference calls for one, but know that your phone is your insurance card with Clearcover.
Lemonade
- Check your email or Lemonade app: You should be able to find your policy documents—and that digital insurance card—in your email inbox. Lemonade usually emails them to you right away before your policy start date. Look for a message from them with PDFs attached. Your digital insurance card should be in that email ready to download and print.
- Log in via the website or app: If you cannot find that email, you can log in to the Lemonade app or at lemonade.com. Once you are logged in, go to to your insurance policy documents. Your insurance card, or proof of insurance is usually available online or on the app.
- Download the ID card: You can save the insurance card PDF or image to your computer. If you’re on the app, use the share or download feature to get it onto your phone. That might mean emailing it to yourself from the app. On the website, if a PDF opens, just download it.
- Print the card: You’ll want to make sure the PDF or image includes your policy number, vehicle details and coverage dates. You can print either just the part that looks like an ID card—or the whole Declarations page. That’s accepted as proof of insurance too.
- Lemonade app: The Lemonade app will always have your up-to-date insurance information. You can open it and show your digital ID card anytime—that’s handy if you don’t have the paper. If you lose your printed copy, just re-open the app or site and print a new one. Lemonade issues those digital cards by default, so you can print them rather than wait for them to arrive in the mail.
Gainsco (GAINSCO Auto Insurance)
- Contact GAINSCO or use their app: If you need to access your policy or ID card information with GAINSCO, you have a couple of options. Their customer portal is pretty basic, so you’re better off using their mobile app (available for Android-and possibly iOS devices) or reaching out to your agent directly for help. That app lets you log in and view your policy information on your device. Download it (if it’s available for your device) and you’ll be able to access everything you need.
- Access ID card: To find your ID card information, head to your policy details or electronic ID card in the app. If the app provides an image of your ID card, that’s your best way to get a copy. GAINSCO’s website doesn’t make it easy for customers to download their ID cards. The “My Account” section is really geared towards payments. So, either use the app or give them a call.
- Request an ID card if needed: If you cannot get your ID card through the app, you can always reach out to GAINSCO’s customer service at 866-424-6726). Your agent can also help you out. Just ask them to send you a copy of your insurance ID card. They can usually email or fax it to you right away.
- Print the card from email: If GAINSCO does email you the ID card (likely as a PDF), you can print it out. That will serve as your physical proof of insurance. Many GAINSCO policies are sold through agents, who can also print out ID cards for you if you stop by their office.
- Keep digital proof on your phone: It’s a good idea to keep a digital copy of your ID card, too—even if you do get a physical one. The GAINSCO app or a photo of the card can usually suffice as proof in most situations. GAINSCO, which focuses on minimum-limits auto insurance, often includes an ID card with your policy packet when you first sign up. If you lose yours, just give them a call—and they’ll send one right out.
Safeway Insurance
- Use Safeway’s ID Card retrieval: Safeway Insurance offers a quick online way to get a copy of your ID card. Go to the Safeway Insurance website. On the homepage or under the Auto Insurance section, look for “MySafeway I.D. Card.” There will be text like: “Do you need to print, or have you lost your Safeway Insurance ID card? Click here to retrieve your ID Card.” Click that link that says “retrieve your ID Card.”
- Enter policy information: The MySafeway ID Card retrieval will ask for details to find your policy. Typically, you’ll need to enter your Policy Number and perhaps your last name, birth date, or some combination of identifying info (Safeway’s site might integrate this with their MySafeway portal). Fill in the required fields on the form.
- Retrieve ID card: After you submit your information, the system should locate your policy and allow you to view/print your auto insurance ID card immediately. It may open the card in a new window or prompt a file download.
- Print the ID card: Print the Safeway insurance card that appears. Safeway’s online tool will provide the official card with all the necessary details. The website explicitly provides an option to “Print Your I.D. Card” right after retrieving it. Click that and print the page. Now you have your Safeway proof of insurance ready.
- MySafeway account (optional): Safeway Insurance also has a general customer portal (MySafeway) for payments and policy info. If you created a profile, you can log in and likely access policy documents and ID cards there, too. You can also view your ID cards digitally through their mobile app (MySafeway on iOS/Android). But because Safeway gives you the option to print out your ID cards without needing to log in, using the website is actually pretty straightforward.
Acceptance Insurance (First Acceptance)
- Log in to Acceptance’s MyAccount: To log in to your Acceptance Insurance account, head to myaccount.firstacceptance.com. You can register an account if you haven’t already-set one up using your policy number, name and other personal details. That way you can manage your account online—and actually get things done.
- Navigate to your policy details: Once you’re logged in, navigate to your auto insurance policy details. In your policy view, look for that document labeled “Insurance ID Card” or “Proof of Insurance.” Some customers have reported that the online portal mainly allows payments and basic info-so you might need to take the next step if you don’t see documents online.
- Download ID card: If you see a PDF of your ID card or a “print ID card” button in your policy view, you can click it. That will give you your insurance card to print. Save or open the PDF and go from there.

Save the PDF too so you have a digital copy. Keep the printed CURE card in your car as required by law.
An insurance ID card is usually only available with an active policy. To stay safe, use your insurer’s official website or app to get your ID card. Having your policy number handy will speed up the process. Once you print your insurance card, store it in your vehicle’s glove compartment. Consider downloading your insurer’s mobile app if they offer one—that way you’ll have a convenient digital proof of insurance if you forget your printed copy. And that’s just good sense. Safe driving!
