Coffee Shops in Humboldt Park

Humboldt Park’s namesake public park provides a nice escape from the urban landscape of Chicago. The museums and restaurants represent the Puerto Rican community present there since the 70s. It’s a little fitting considering Humboldt Park is a West Side community of Chicago with a story of its own. So naturally, some of the local coffee shops have some Puerto Rican influence.

El Secreto del Sabor

Situated right in Humboldt Park and the perfect stop during a stroll is El Secreto del Sabor. In addition to coffee, you can get Puerto Rican fried treats and pastries to go with it. They make for great lunches on the go too. It’s truly like being in a garden cafe being in the park the way it is.

Cafe Calida

Cafe Calida has a huge coffee menu with all the different ways to serve and drink it. Their coffee bar takes the artisanal approach but can just as quickly serve you a quick cup on the go along with tea. This is another locally-owned coffee shop and is valued by the community as such.

Etheria Cafe

Etheria often closes early on weekends due to parties and events. But who would want to rent a coffee shop out for something like a birthday party? When that coffee shop and cafe has a two-level indoor play area, that changes everything. That is why Etheria Cafe is so popular with parents. While they enjoy their coffee, their kids can spend hours in the play area. Their sweets and pastries go well with their coffee.

Atmos Coffee Shop

Stop by Atmos for their signature Abuelita’s Latte just down the street from the park and housed in the old Dreambox Foto Studio building. Other house specials include the Peppermint Matcha and Welo’s Americano. Their bakery includes other Puerto Rican-influenced food like empanadas.
