What Can The Kiosk Do For You
Previously, Uber had started using kiosks to promote brand awareness and help people sign up to drive. It also doubles as a forum for drivers both current and new to ask questions about driving for Uber. Essentially, people interested in driving could sign up and learn from the experience of other drivers in the area. After seeing success with the kiosk, Uber began to expand what the kiosk can do for people.
Kiosks: The Future
While most people are familiar with at least one of the ride-share services, Uber seems to be the top dog. In order to stay ahead of the competition, Uber has started developing kiosk locations for people without a smartphone or those who face a language to technology barrier. The kiosk features a large display screen designed to help users navigate easily. As far as customer services, the kiosk has live support that gives you access to an actual Uber representative and not a bot.
This type of technology may seem outdated, as the kiosk resembles an arcade, yet Uber believes that will help. The company purposefully designed the kiosk to feel like an arcade which “compared to a PC at home, creates a social environment inviting others to help the primary user.” So the idea is to give people the opportunity to find a ride in a location that may not have a reliable connection or unfamiliar territory where language barriers deny people service.
Uber kiosks may be coming to a location near you. Expect to hear and see them in high volume areas, such as international airports, stadiums, theatres, and more. While the initial plan for the kiosk was to sign drivers up, Uber has expanded its kiosk capabilities to include ride-hailing.
