Progressive auto insurance company has announced that it will take a cut of its
Chicago auto insurance rates. The effective date of the lower car insurance rates will be January 20, 2012. Progressive has recently announced that it took a cut in the
commercial auto insurance rates in Chicago Illinois.
Progressive auto insurance is considered one of the major players in the auto insurance quotes markets in the Chicago area. Other major players include State Farm Auto Insurance, Allstate Auto Insurance, American Family Auto Insurance, Farmers Insurance, and more. Progressive auto insurance is considered one of the most competitive standard insurers, especially among single residents of the down tow Chicago area.
Besides the great competitive car insurance rates that Progressive offers, the company further offers additional discounts for Progressive customers such as:
- Continuous insurance for more than 36 months, with the same carrier.
- Early quotes. If quotes are offered 7 days or more from effective day
- Paid in Full Discount. That is a big discount for people who pay policy in full.
- EFT Payment Method. Or if the customers pay their dues via electronically.
- Paperless Discounts. If clients choose to go paperless they get further discount.
- Multi Policy Discount: If clients have multiple policies with Progressive (e.g., motorcycle, RV,)
- Homeowners Discounts. If customers own homes and/or multiple cars.
Progressive also annouced that it will offer lower down payment plan for preferred customers, or customers with good credit.
Progressive auto insurance also offers Roadside Assistance programs on all products to give customers the protection at very competitive rates.
New exception to Unacceptable Vehicles: At the moment Progressive does not accept any pickups, vans or utility vehicles with a (GVW) gross vehicle weight rating-according to the manufacturer's specifications- greater than 12,000 pounds. Some exceptions apply to the gross vehicle weight acceptability. For example Ford F450 has been added to the list of acceptable autos.
Critique of
Progressive auto insurance includes issues related to the fact that Progressive over stresses credit worthiness of the clients and prior insurance. Customers with average credit or bad credit may be able to get better car insurance rates in Chicago with other Illinois insurers. Also, customers with less than 6 months of prior insurance may not get the best rates in the Chicago markets.
